Position: Maintenance Technician

Location: USA - Slippery Rock, PA

Job Summary

ThThe Maintenance Technician is responsible for the general maintenance of the buildings and equipment that is conducive to safe and efficient manufacturing. May be used in general utility capacity as needed. Maintain clean, safe work environment. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Self-directed employee with minimal supervision.

This is considered a safety sensitive position therefore will be subject to random drug testing as required.

Responsibilities

  • Follow all standard operating procedures regarding equipment and manufacturing of product, maintain and complete all paperwork, maintain area housekeeping and safety.
  • Perform preventative maintenance, metal fabricating, welding, and bricklaying. Maintain electrical components, heating/air conditioning. Perform general mechanical repairs, plumbing and basic electrical maintenance and repairs. Maintain spare parts and maintenance supply inventories.
  • Participate in Minteq and MTI sponsored safety training to understand the safety standards, processes and goals.
  • Serve as the local safety resource at the Slippery Rock (SR) plant. Communicate with other safety resources (divisional and MTI) as needed to answer questions that arise at the SR plant.
  • Assist the Minteq or MTI Safety Teams in implementing safety training at the SR plant.
  • Schedule and lead one Internal Safety Audit per month, or other agreed-to timeframe with Minteq Safety personnel. Meet with the Plant Manager and one plant Maintenance Technician at least once/month to review the Audit findings and progress to completion.
  • Ensure that safety equipment inspections are completed on time.
  • Collect the information required to complete the Quarterly Safety Report and keep the report up-to-date as activities take place. File the report by the quarterly due date.
  • Maintain the Employee Safety Training completed log. Work with the Plant Manager to schedule time for training. Work with the Plant Manager on progress of individuals in completing the Training as per targeted times.
  • Work with the Plant Manager to schedule one plant Safety Meeting/month. Outline the safety topics and other safety related subjects to be discussed. Discussion should include a review of the latest Safety Audit (findings and plans for completion); near misses filed; accidents reported.
  • Champion Near Miss Reporting.
  • Review Maintenance Work Requests to identify safety issues. Discuss in the meetings with the Plant Manager.
  • Schedule R3 project activities for completion by due dates.

    Qualifications

    Knowledge: A high school diploma required / Electrical technical training required / OSHA training required. Mechanical aptitude, blue print reading, welding, and cutting skills preferred. Previous manufacturing, forklift or other related experience.

    Skills & Abilities: Communication, interpersonal, adaptability, ability to learn quickly, initiative, integrity, customer and quality focus, judgment/problem-solving, safety awareness.

    Physical & Mental: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Must be able to withstand the physical pressures of constant standing, walking, bending, climbing, kneeling, crouching, reaching, sitting, extremes of hot and cold, as well as carrying, lifting, pushing and pulling heavy objects, work in environment of airborne dust particles, vibrations, and moving mechanical parts.

    General: Will work overtime as needed.
